The Awakening

Dear Milo,

With only one week before the dreaded promotional exams begin, time is running short! Since I have only 5 minutes to update my long overdue blog, I've decided to push forward my English Post!

Peculiar, it was, for me to have awaken in a cemetery, sodden with mud, and smothered with midges. It was as if I had awaken from death, and been endowed with a second chance to live in the death-ridden mortal world once more. Sweeping the grubs off my visage, I scanned my immediate surroundings meticulously, dazed and hopelessly confused.

It was then I heard a sound...A sound that preceded a whiff of a stench that spoke of a deathly funk of 20,000 years. To my horror, there, in front of me, was a hand...emerging from the ground like a newborn sapling....

I might have been dead- I wasn't sure- but I certainly feared the undead. As the hand clawed its way out of the soil, I hid behind a withered bush just a few metres away from the hand.

Slowly but surely, the cadaver emerged from the ground, losing one of his hands in the process. His body was punctuated with livid white scars- scars which told the story of a gruesome death marked by a slew of malicious stabs. With his remaining hand, he pulled out the knife that was lodged in his neck, and grabbed the tombstone in front of him to haul himself up.

His face, ominously inscrutable, nevertheless told a story of a life full of acrimony and animosity. He was burning with hatred, and lusting for gore.

It was then I realised, that not too far away, was a man who was kneeling down in front of a tombstone...

It was then that I also realised....that blood was going to be shed....

(To be continued)

Oh no! I am out of time! Guess I have to continue next time!
